Reflection #1

My time being in XCore Mardi Gras class I have learned a good amount of information so far from my professor and peers. What I learned so far about Mardi Gras is it does not take place just in New Orleans. One of my peers not from New Orleans says Mardi Gras is celebrated from where she is from but in a different way. It’s interesting how different places around the country celebrate Mardi Gras but in their own unique way that is reflective of their culture. This weekend I tried King Cake for the first time and it was really good and I know that is it popular to eat around this time of the year. I would like to know the history and development of King Cake and what it means to people in New Orleans. I look forward to learning more about the history of Mardi Gras. When I think about Mardi Gras I think of people partying all day and night and having a great time. Even though that is what people do I want to know the meaning behind it all. I hope I get to learn about it throughout this course in class and on field trips.
