Rainbow Throws!

The criticism of the throws is its negative impact on the environment. During Mardi Gras season, there is a lot of litter on the streets and items just going to waste. Many krewes started taking the initiative over the years to reduce the number of beads they are throwing. Also, some krewes started passing out recyclable items and souvenirs that people will most likely keep rather than throwing them away. My solution to reducing the amount of waste during Mardi Gras season is for krewes to continue throwing fewer beads. But I do not think it would be a great idea to stop throwing the beads as a whole because that is a part of the Mardi Gras tradition and excitement for others and including me! Also, I like the idea of passing out items that people are most likely to keep. I believe those items should get passed out more than the beads because these are unique items that people can keep and will always remember. Compared to beads, you can get it at any time and can cause clutter in your space, depending on the amount you have collected. I believe these solutions will become widespread because krewes have already started joining in on making a change in the environment and the New Orleans community which can motivate others to want to do the same.
